Madras high court dismisses plea seeking to remove encroachment

MADURAI: The Madras high court dismissed a Public interest litigation seeking to remove an encroachment made by a person on a government land (Porambakku) in Sivaganga district. Nallasamy moved high court seeking to remove the encroachment made by a person in a piece of land belonging to the government at Kadambangulam village. Alleging that a person had fraudulently obtained patta of the land, the petitioner also sought Sivaganga district collector to initiate necessary action against the erring officials, who issued patta to the person. Hearing the plea, a division bench of Justice P N Prakash and B Pugalendhi observed that since no materials were produced before this court to infer that the land belongs to state government, the court was not inclined to entertain the petition. Hence, the judges dismissed the petition.
